Welcome to my interamory website. In these pages you will find an orienting look at my framework for understanding and articulating relationships, built through almost fifteen years of intentionally (and obsessively) analyzing and naming developments in my personal connections.
This project is my solo-collaborative effort to develop and organize relationship thoughts that I’ve developed but not seen systematically reflected elsewhere. The work itself was borne of necessity rather than curiosity: by my early twenties, I had amassed a range of unique and frustrating experiences pertaining to family, romance, friendship, and workplace relationships, and the gravity of those challenges was exacerbated by chronic financial precarity, housing instability in my family, and a long history of having been materially or relationally betrayed and abandoned by people close to me. I struggled throughout those years to find the words or perspectives I needed to make sense of what was happening to me and around me, and to explain why fundamentally good people were so good at hurting each other. The best I could do was to rearrange the understandings I had until I found something resembling clarity. In time, the worldview I found brought me stability, forgiveness, growth, and peace. Now in the relative security of my late thirties, I have begun discussing (and living by) these ideas much more openly. As my continuing experience and ongoing conversations bring more shape and definition to my ideas, I will share them here.
The project’s goal is to describe relationships so that we can better appreciate, navigate, and cultivate our myriad forms of connection with the help of a common and consistently applied language. This work is not about any particular form of love, but is instead directed at revealing the puzzle picture that emerges from seeing all of your relationships pieced together in a single frame.
